DEDON Tour du Monde: A Never Ending Story
Whether you’ve been following it since the beginning or just started tuning in, you’ve probably noticed that the DEDON Tour du Monde isn’t your ordinary company trip. Over the last half year or so, we’ve danced with the Masaai of Kenya, ridden elephants down a river in Northern Thailand, thrown a party at the royal palace of Udaipur, India, and led a parade of VW Bugs through the colonial town of Valladolid, Mexico. Did I mention that we drove a team of huskies in Mègeve, under the shadow of Mont Blanc?
Not everyone understands, at least not initially, why a furniture company would set off on a whirlwind trip around the world. Then again, not everyone one knows DEDON yet. As individuals and as a company, we’re born adventurers — forever on the move, always ready to try something new, continually inspired by the people we meet and the places we visit. In that sense, the Tour du Monde is an expression of who we are. It's not something we can just stop — it's in our DNA. The Tour must go on!
In the next couple of months, we’ll be releasing our 2011 catalog. Titled Tour du Monde, it’s illustrated with a selection of the incredible imagery our Tour photographers, Oliver and Rainer, captured over the course of eight stops on four continents. But don’t assume the Tour du Monde is just an endless catalog shoot. As you’ll soon discover, we’re integrating the Tour into our events and activities all around the globe. After all, they’re all part of the same ongoing adventure.
So what’s next? Well, in a couple of days we’ll being bringing the Tour to Paris for a very special evening with Philippe Starck. Two weeks later, in the midst of New York Fashion Week, DEDON celebrates New York with a one-of-a-kind event, which will be co-hosted by legendary photographer Bruce Weber. And after that? Well, you’ll just have to stay tuned. It’s a big world out there. Got any suggestions?
