Annette Hinterwirth

CITY CAMP Designer Annette Hinterwirth

Annette Hinterwirth was born and raised in Gmunden, Austria. A self-taught designer, she graduated in business administration before widening her design knowledge with classes at the Technical University of Vienna and UCLA in Los Angeles. Developing a passion for set design, Annette worked in the art departments of such Hollywood productions as Seven Years in Tibet and Project Peace. Then, feeling the pull of New York, she started designing sets for fashion shoots and was soon collaborating with some of the world’s most renowned photographers, including Terry Richardson, Steven Klein, among others. Annette’s work frequently appeared in the pages of Vogue, i-D, Dazed and Marie Claire, among other magazines, and in the advertising of numerous international fashion, luxury and lifestyle brands.

Even as she pursued her career as a photo set designer, Annette began creating furniture and lighting of her own on the side. International design stores quickly picked up the work.

Since then, Annette has collaborated with Swarovski, designed for Minotti and Neue Wiener Werkstätten, created a limited edition powerboat and just completed her first architectural project.

In fall of 2011, DEDON presented Annette’s first foray into outdoor furniture — and the company’s first collaboration with a woman designer.
