Mangrove
MANGROVE was conceived by EOOS as a versatile range of tables specifically designed to complement the DEDON collections. Indeed, with its unmistakable form and unusual means of sustaining itself — by putting out branches to absorb nutrients and carry these to the roots — the mangrove tree constituted an important starting point for the design. Tops and bases in various sizes transform MANGROVE into either a table for lunches or breakfasts, a worktop or desk, or, alternatively, a tea or coffee-table.

Founded in 1995 by a trio of graduates from the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna, award-winning Austrian design firm EOOS has created innovative furniture, lighting, consumer products and architectural spaces, among them flagship stores for Adidas Originals and Armani Cosmetics.
At the heart of their work is a research process that designers Martin Bergmann, Gernot Bohmann, and Harald Gründl refer to as ‘poetic analysis.’ Drawing on ancient mythologies and cultural history, and combining these with the latest technologies, the designers unlock new or unexpected dimensions of the brands with which they collaborate. Among their many groundbreaking projects are the Kube seating system for Matteograssi, the b2 kitchen concept for Bulthaup and, for DEDON, the highly innovative Summer Cloud beach chair, in which both lounger and sun shade swivel upon a common base, allowing the user to adjust to the path of the sun over the course of the day. EOOS has received the prestigious Compasso d’Oro (2004), the Design Week Award (2005), the IF Design Award (2007), and two red dot ‘best of the best’ design awards (2007).
