Bruce Weber and DEDON: A Perfect Match
Though it started only a year ago, DEDON’s relationship with legendary American photographer Bruce Weber has already developed into something much deeper than an ordinary collaboration. It all started on set near Fort Lauderdale, Florida, last January, when Weber shot his groundbreaking “Coming Home” image campaign for us on a specially constructed, multi-level treehouse.
During the shoot, Weber and DEDON Founder and Chairmen Bobby Dekeyser began a fast friendship based on instinct, a shared spirit of adventure and an immediate sense of trust. The growing relationship soon yielded a ‘Tree House’ film by Weber, a limited edition coffee table book and — premiering in its entirety on our home page tomorrow — a brand new ‘Sea House’ film.
Shot near Weber’s home on Montauk and set on a sea-going barge built and styled especially for the occasion, Barefooting around the World is a lyrical and highly personal expression by the artist and features some of his favorite collaborators, including fashion It girl Dree Hemingway and iconic supermodel Elaine Irwin. A selection of making-of pictures may be viewed above.
Weber’s ongoing collaboration with DEDON is his first ever with a furniture company (as well as his first with a German brand), yet it seems as if the two were meant together from the start. “My dad was in the furniture business,” says Weber, “so in a way, working with DEDON feels like bringing at all back home.” In German, meanwhile, Weber’s last name means ‘weaver’, and weaving is, of course, at the heart of the DEDON brand.
