In other words, to take the best of the inside out. We beganwith an innovative fiber of our own creation. Luxurious to the touch yet tough enough to withstand even the most extreme conditions, the DEDON Fiber continues to set us apart, not just in terms of quality but of creativity. In the hands of a design talent like Sebastian Herkner, whom you’ll meet on page 5, it becomes a medium of expression. Inside out! Owning our fiber and furniture production hasmade it possible for DEDON to support the creativity of our designers on many levels. When Stephen Burks invited us to participate in his Irregular Weaving workshops in Brooklyn (p. 6-7), it was the perfect opportunity to share resources and expertise. When Barber & Osgerby wanted to explore the beauty of turned wood (page 10-11), it was a chance to broaden our expertise and bring something truly new to the outdoors. Inside out! Over the last three decades, DEDON has extended its expertise to outdoor spaces of all kinds, discovering the right material for every context. The wide range of materials we work with, all of them outdoor- ready (page 8-9), has increased the opportunities for our designers to create and for customers like you to develop outdoor atmospheres all your own. Insights out! Through all of these developments, we’ve never lost sight of our mission – to bring people together to enjoy life under the open skies. We created DEDON Magazine to share with you the stories of how we do it. Since this is our inaugural issue, our first chance to reveal what happens inside DEDON to the outside world, there was only one name we could give it. Inside Out!
