The Hampton Designer Showhouse brings together more than 25 leading interior designers from the Hamptons, New York City, and across the country, creating one of the industry’s most recognized residential design showcases. Open throughout the summer, the showhouse supported Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.
Presented by HC&G (Hamptons Cottages & Gardens), the 2023 edition at 499 Broadway in Southampton, New York, is a 9,000-square-foot new build featuring a three-story custom home designed by Cavallo Building with more than 30 spaces by 20 interior designers.
DEDON partnered with Winter McDermott Design to create a tranquil outdoor terrace and poolside setting, featuring a curated selection of best-selling and iconic luxury outdoor furniture pieces. A neutral palette, combined with woven and teak materials, reflected a modern Hamptons aesthetic and allowed the furniture to blend naturally with the surrounding environment.
Maureen McDermott selected pieces “that would blend seamlessly into their surroundings, allowing them to speak for themselves.” Mixing teakwood with earth-toned woven and fully upholstered BRIXX by Lorenza Bozzoli pieces, the alfresco spaces “encourage relaxation and being one with nature.”
During the showhouse, DEDON hosted a “Day in the Hamptons” experience, inviting a select group of design and lifestyle influencers for a guided tour of the space. The visit introduced the Spirit of Place concept through a series of curated moments, offering a layered experience that connected setting, design, and atmosphere.
About Winter McDermott Design
Maureen McDermott designs homes that feel effortless to live in: quiet, layered, and deeply considered.
Her work is rooted in the belief that a home should feel like an extension of how you want to live: calm without being sparse, elevated without being precious, and always in dialogue with its architecture. Each project is approached holistically, where interiors are not applied decoration but an integral part of the home’s structure, flow, and feeling.
After training at the New York School of Interior Design and working with leading firms in New York City and the Hamptons, Maureen refined her eye under design icon Vicente Wolf before founding Winter McDermott Design in 2015.
Her work has been featured in publications including AD, Luxe, House Beautiful, Cottages & Gardens, Hamptons, and Rue, among others.
