During NYCxDesign 2026, DEDON joined Kin & Company and Gloster in presenting Inside~Out: Bird’s Eye View, an immersive rooftop exhibition in DUMBO that explored the relationship between urban living, ecology, and outdoor design.
Hosted by Two Trees Management, the fifth annual edition of Inside~Out invited visitors to experience the city through an ecocentric lens, imagining outdoor environments from the perspective of New York’s avian inhabitants. Through art and design, the exhibition encouraged reflection on how people and wildlife coexist within the urban landscape.
For DEDON, the exhibition supported our long-standing design philosophy rooted in organic forms, tactile materials, and a close connection to nature.
Artistic Expression and Connection in the City
Founded by Kin & Company in 2019, Inside~Out was created to foster social connection through outdoor design while offering independent designers a platform to experiment beyond traditional interior spaces. Over the years, the exhibition has evolved into one of NYCxDesign’s most distinctive experiences, bringing together artists, designers, and visitors in thoughtfully curated outdoor settings.
The 2026 edition featured work from more than 30 independent studios and artists, including Noa Raviv, Peg Woodworking, Forma Studio, Phaan Howng, Sophie Collé, Lucca House, Studio Beca, and Spectacle Motifs, among many others.
Set against panoramic views of the Manhattan Bridge and the East River, the rooftop installation became an environment where visitors could engage with contemporary art and design while immersed in a setting that inspired visitors to connect with local wildlife.
“We’re excited to support this year’s Inside~Out and be part of something that feels distinctly New York—creative, relaxed, a little unexpected, and rooted in people coming together,” said Patrick Troy, President & CEO of DEDON Americas and Gloster Americas. “The best spaces have a certain atmosphere to them. That intersection of art, design, culture, and human connection is something we’ve always been drawn to as brands.”
DEDON collections including MDEAR, MYMI, and MBRACE were featured throughout the rooftop terrace, creating comfortable spaces for guests to gather and relax.
An Evening of Conversation and Community
As part of Inside~Out: Bird’s Eye View, DEDON and Gloster welcomed guests to a rooftop gathering on May 20th for an evening centered around design conversation and community. The event invited members of the New York creative community to engage with the installations while enjoying cocktails and sweeping views above DUMBO.
Even as thunderstorms passed through the city, the rooftop remained filled with energy throughout the evening, with more than 250 attendees gathering to experience the exhibition’s immersive atmosphere and celebrate the intersection of art and outdoor living.
MYMI Recognized at NYCxDesign 2026 Awards
During NYCxDesign 2026, DEDON also received a nomination in the NYCxDesign Awards for our MYMI collection in the Outdoor Furniture Collection category.
MYMI reflects an approach to outdoor living that combines modern comfort with expressive details. The collection’s recognition during NYCxDesign further showcased DEDON’s ongoing contribution to the evolving language of luxury outdoor furniture and design.
Woven Outdoor Furniture Connected with Nature
Nature has long served as a creative reference point throughout DEDON’s collections, inspiring our woven textures and organic silhouettes. Across the Inside~Out rooftop installation, DEDON furnishings complemented the exhibition’s theme through designs that echoed the fluidity and softness found in natural environments.
Through innovative weaving techniques, material experimentation, and collaborations with internationally renowned designers, DEDON continues to create collections that blur the boundary between crafted objects and the natural environments around them.
