A master of democratic design, Philippe Starck conceived the PLAY with DEDON collection as a celebration of freedom of choice. Marrying high-tech industrial processes with a wide range of hand-crafted finishings, the collection centers on an injection-moulded polypropylene side chair frame, iconic in its design and available with optional arms. But the frame is just the beginning. From sea-bent plywood to upholstered outdoor satin to woven fiber in a range of contrasting hues, Starck and DEDON put an expansive choice of finishings entirely in the hands of consumers. The PLAY chair is more than just an expression of its owner’s taste, however. Lightweight, sturdy, stackable and thoroughly weather-resistant, it’s a practical addition to any outdoor environment. And to complement the chair, Starck has created an equally iconic bistro table. With its porcelain top, aluminum base and roto-moulded structure wrapped in contrasting tones of DEDON fiber, the table exhibits the same playful mixture of textures and materials, not to mention the same high level of practicality.
