PRIVACY STATEMENT
Data privacy and security
We take the protection of your personal data very seriously and strictly observe all statutory requirements. Personal data is only collected if you require a specific service (contact requests, subscription to the newsletter, etc.), in the context of our Internet activities. Our data protection practice complies with the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

In order to protect your data to the utmost against accidental or deliberate manipulation, loss or access by unauthorised third parties, we have laid down technical and organisational security measures, which we continually improve in line with technical and legal developments.

With the following information we hereby explain how we ensure data privacy and what data is collected for what purpose.

1. Personal data
Personal data is information which can be used to discover your identity. This may include information such as your name, address, postal address, IP address, telephone number, or e-mail address. Information which is not directly related to your identity (e.g. number of site users) is not included here.

Personal data is collected for use in processing offers and services you have selected. This especially pertains to filling in forms, registering for our newsletter, the transmission of e-mails, or the use of any other of our online services. As a result, with contact requests, catalogue orders, or subscriptions to the newsletter, the data requested for filling in the respective form, e.g. name, address and e-mail address, are collected.

Your personal data will only be used to provide the required services and requested customer service. Included here are:

Responding to your requests by email or post;
Sending DEDON catalogues, information on products and offers by post and e-mail, where corresponding consent is given;
E-mailing the newsletter, where corresponding consent is given; activities aimed at improving our products, communications media and internal processes.

Our employees are obligated to maintain confidentiality concerning your personal data. The sale of addresses to third parties, or the disclosure of your data to commercial mailing list brokers will not take place on any account. IP addresses are only logged anonymously.

2. The disclosure of your personal data to group members/third parties, as well as transmission abroad
Your data will be disclosed to other members of the DEDON Group or third parties who support us in its processing, insofar as this is required at separate stages of contractual data processing, contract implementation, provision of services, marketing purposes and the optimisation of offers. Apart from this, in certain circumstances, we may engage the services of third parties to manage and take care of data. Beyond this, no information whatsoever will be passed on.

As a globally active enterprise, DEDON GmbH thereby relies, if necessary, on being able to transmit your data as required within the DEDON group and to subsidiaries located abroad. Occasionally, we are also obliged to consult third parties, such as authorised national and international distributors and supply chain partners, in order to be able to provide you with better service. Data may, therefore, also be transmitted to countries outside the European Union. In the context of contractual relations existing with a third party/subsidiary located in a non-European Member State, however, we guarantee an appropriate level of data protection, in accordance with BDSG or EU norms.

3. Right to information, correction and deletion

According to the Federal Data Protection Act, you have the right to receive information about your stored personal data, free of charge and at any time.
Furthermore, you have the right to correct, delete or bar incorrect data. However, we are referring to your right to the deletion of data under legal obligations we are obligated to observe. In addition to this, the courts, law enforcement agencies or other authorities specified by law may demand legally admissible data or request information.

For requests for information, correction or deletion, please contact us in writing, indicating your name and e-mail address at:

DEDON GmbH
Zeppelinstrasse 22
21337 Lüneburg / Germany,
or by e-mail to
info@dedon.de

You may also oppose the use of your data for advertising purposes at any time, most simply via an e-mail to info@dedon.de.
Your stored personal data will be deleted: If you withdraw your permission to store it, if your information is no longer required for the purpose it was originally stored for (e.g. following comprehensive contractual processing and expiry of the fiscal and commercial legal provisions), or if its storage is inadmissible for other legal reasons.

4. Use of cookies
DEDON uses so-called ‘cookies‘. A cookie is a text file, which is either temporarily filed away in the working memory of the computer (‘session cookie‘) or stored on the hard disk (‘permanent cookie‘).

Cookies contain, e.g. information on your access to the corresponding server to date, or information on offers which you have looked at so far. Cookies are not uploaded as a means of exporting programmes or loading viruses onto your computer. The main purpose of cookies is rather to provide you with a customised offer and to make your use of the service as convenient as possible, e.g. your personal reminders or individual search requests.

Most browsers are configured by default to accept cookies. They can, however, configure your browser in such a way that it refuses to accept cookies, or requests confirmation from you beforehand.

If you refuse to accept cookies, however, this may result in the presentation of some of our offers being disrupted.

5. Google Analytics
Our website uses Google Analytics, a Web analysis service from Google Inc. (Google). Google Analytics uses so-called ‘cookies‘, or text files, which are stored on your computer and which enable your use of the website to be analysed. The information generated by cookies about your use of this website are generally transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Where IP anonymisation is activated on this Web page, however, your Google IP address is first abbreviated within Member States of the European Union or in other signatories to the European Economic Zone. It is only in exceptional cases that a complete IP address will be transferred to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there.

Google will use this information on behalf of this website operator, in order to evaluate your use of the Website, compile reports for the website operator about website activity and provide further services connected with website and Internet use. IP addresses transmitted by your browser in Google Analytics will not be brought together with other data in Google.

You can prevent cookies being stored through a corresponding configuration of your browser-software; we advise, however, that in that case, if applicable, you will not be able to use all functions of this website to the full. Moreover, you can prevent the registration of the relevant data generated by the cookie and your use of the website (incl. your IP address) on Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available via the following link http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de.

6. Use of Facebook social plug-ins
On its website, DEDON uses social plug-ins (‘plug-ins‘) from the facebook.com social network, which is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (‚Facebook‘). These plug-ins are identified by a Facebook logo. If you access a DEDON website containing such a plug-in, your browser will establish a direct link with Facebook‘s servers. Facebook will transfer the content of the plug-in directly to your browser, which will integrate it into the website. Facebook will thereby receive information you have accessed on the corresponding DEDON page. If you are already logged on to Facebook, Facebook can direct DEDON to your Facebook account. If you interact with Facebook plug-ins (e.g. by clicking on the ‘Like' button), the corresponding information is transmitted from your browser to Facebook and stored there. The purpose and scope of the data collection, further processing and use of the data by Facebook, as well as your rights and configuration options for the protection of your privacy in this regard, may be found in Facebook’s data privacy statement.

For Facebook’s data privacy statement, go to: www.facebook.com/about/privacy.

If you do not want Facebook to collect data in this way, we recommend logging out of Facebook before visiting the DEDON site.

7. Use of Twitter social plug-ins
Our website uses social plug-ins (‘plug-ins‘) from the twitter.com social network, operated by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. If you use the re-tweeting functions, the websites you visit will be notified to third parties and linked with your Twitter account.

Details on how your data is handled by Twitter, as well as on your rights and configuration options for the protection of your personal data may be found in Twitter’s privacy statement.

For Twitter’s privacy statement, go to: www.twitter.com/privacy.

8. Use of Pinterest plug-ins
On our page, we use social plug-ins from the Pinterest social network, which is operated by Pinterest Inc., 635 High Street, Palo Alto, CA, 94301, USA (‘Pinterest’). If you access a page containing such a plug-in, your browser will set up a direct link with Pinterest‘s servers. The plug-in will thereby transmit log data to the Pinterest server in the USA. This log data may contain your IP address; the addresses of any websites you have visited that also contain Pinterest functions; browser type and configuration; the date and time of the request; how you use Pinterest, and cookies.

Further information on the purpose, scope, further processing and use of data by Pinterest, as well as your rights and data protection options may be found in Pinterest’s data privacy statement: https://about.pinterest.com/de/privacy-policy.

DEDON does not wish to collect personal data from persons under the age of 14. DEDON shall – if required – expressly indicate to children in each case that they should not transmit any personal information to DEDON.

Should parents or other legal guardians establish that the children entrusted to their care have provided us with information, we request that they try to inform us of this without delay. We shall then have this data deleted immediately.
